Candice Anthony, LMSW
(Currently Accepting New Clients)

I’m a committed and compassionate mental health professional, as well as a proud first-generation college graduate. I hold a Master’s degree in Social Work with a specialization in Clinical Behavioral Health from the University of Maryland School of Social Work. My journey into this field was shaped by a deep desire to support others in becoming the most whole and authentic versions of themselves, especially as they navigate life’s complexities and emotional challenges.

In my practice, I integrate a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches tailored to meet each client’s unique needs. These include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing (MI), and faith-based counseling for those who wish to incorporate their spiritual beliefs into their healing journey. My goal is to provide a supportive and empowering environment where clients feel seen, heard, and understood.

I especially understand what it’s like to forge a new path—perhaps pursuing dreams or goals that no one in your family has before. That kind of courage can feel heavy and isolating, particularly when you’ve never had it modeled for you. But the truth is, you don’t have to figure it out on your own.

Whether you're navigating depression, anxiety, grief, anger, low self-worth, significant life transitions, or spiritual and faith-related questions, I’m here to help you process, heal, and move forward.

Whatever you're carrying, you deserve a safe, nonjudgmental space to work through it. I’m here to walk alongside you—as a guide, a support, and a fellow human—so you can build a life that reflects your values, resilience, and true potential.

As individuals, we grapple with a myriad of subconscious and conscious issues that can profoundly impact our lives. These challenges can range from deeply ingrained trauma to everyday stressors. Forming a connection with a therapist can provide a safe space where deep-rooted problems are given the voice they need to be heard and understood.

I can assist with a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, PTSD, generational trauma, sexual trauma, schizophrenia, trauma, OCD, self-esteem issues, family dysfunction, social anxiety, bipolar disorder, grief, coping with loneliness, learning self-purpose, and stress. My goal is to support clients through their unique journeys, helping them navigate these complex emotions and experiences.

I am committed to continuous learning and expanding my areas of specialty. Working primarily with adolescents and adults, I understand that each client has unique needs requiring tailored interventions. By utilizing Eclectic Therapy, I am able to take a collaborative approach, integrating multiple therapeutic techniques to best meet the individual needs of my clients. This approach allows for flexibility and responsiveness, ensuring that each session is as effective and meaningful as possible.

One of the core methods I use is Narrative Therapy, which focuses on the stories we tell ourselves and how they shape our lives. By revising these narratives, we can enhance our quality of life, fostering growth and healing. Together, we will process trauma, address current struggles, and rebuild from life's challenges, creating a path toward a more fulfilling and empowered future.

As a dedicated mental health counselor, my passion lies in supporting individuals navigating the unique challenges of postpartum, young adulthood, and the complexities of anxiety and depression. Picture my ideal client as a young adult or new parent grappling with the profound adjustments that come with these life stages. They may be facing overwhelming emotions accompanying postpartum experiences or struggling to manage the stressors of transitioning into adulthood. Their needs revolve around finding effective coping strategies, fostering resilience, and building a foundation for lasting mental well-being. My goal is to empower them to navigate these transformative periods with confidence and self-awareness.

In my practice, I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), an evidence-based approach proven to be highly effective in addressing a wide array of mental health concerns. With a focus on identifying and modifying negative thought patterns, CBT equips individuals with practical tools to manage stress, anxiety, and depressive symptoms. I believe in fostering a safe and non-judgmental space where clients can explore their thoughts and emotions, promoting self-discovery and personal growth. My approach integrates empathy, active listening, and collaborative goal-setting to ensure a tailored therapeutic experience that aligns with each client's unique journey.

I've observed that many people grapple with significant trauma and disappointment, reaching a point where they feel powerless. It can be overwhelming. The key isn't necessarily to fix every problem in your life but to learn how to respond differently, tapping into your capable and beautiful self. You might question your life's purpose or feel stuck in a recurring cycle. Clients often express feeling besieged by life's perpetual pressures, making it seem impossible to make progress.

Sometimes, an external perspective is needed to reveal a new path. I specialize in helping individuals break free from unhelpful patterns, enabling them to pursue their true purpose and direction, regardless of external circumstances. My expertise includes treating issues like anxiety, trauma, depression, relationship stress, and conflicts in newlywed life. I frequently work with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd generation individuals and families, assisting them in discovering their strengths and leveraging them for personal growth.

Trained in strategies like CBT and ACT therapy, I am equipped to help you achieve your goals. Clients often experience a renewed sense of confidence upon completing therapy, gaining a better understanding of their authentic selves and desires as opposed to external expectations. Anticipate discovering new insights about yourself and your relationships, perhaps gaining a fresh perspective on past traumas.

I welcome diverse clients, including college students, teens, young working professionals, and women who've survived trauma. As a supportive and non-judgmental guide, my role involves keeping it real, offering honest insights rather than simply telling you what you want to hear. Together, I believe we can chart a course toward wherever you wish to be!
